Terminus Omicron

An Imperial world 2 months Warp travel coreward from the Cadian Gate. It was one of the last worlds to be reclaimed during the Purging Era following Horus' defeat at Terra.

Liberated from Mortarion's Death Guard by the Imperial Fists, it was re-consecrated in the Emperor's name. However, the Imperial victory was short lived.

A mere millennia afterwards, it was discovered that the veil between the material world and the immaterium was particularly weak in some places - places where the veil with the correct heinous rites could be breached, allowing for Warp creatures, Daemons, to cross over and sate their base desires.

And so it was. A minor Imperial Adept, by the name of Efialtes, grew tired of his lot in life, and gathered around him a cult of likeminded fools. Together, they managed to pierce the threshold and the Warp poured forth.

The Planetary Defence Force and a few Imperial Army regiments fought bravely, but ultimately in vain. Before the Lords of Titan and the Ordo Malleus could arrive, the world was writhing in the throes of Daemonic infestation.

Lord Inquisitor Xerxes, aboard his splendid Strike Cruiser "Rubicon", had no choice but to order Exterminatus.

And so it was, that in M33.567 Terminus Omicron was subjected to the Ultimate sanction - complete destruction of all sentient life.

It was to have been the end of an otherwise mediocre and unimportant world - but fate would have it differently.

In M37.567 the Adeptus Mechanicus defied the Inquisitorial Edict of "Mundus Inconcessus". and re-settled the world, with the hope of exploiting its natural mineral resources, and hoping that the world might still have ancient cogitator banks hidden, intact, in the deep underground.

Over time, thinking the world secure, an attempt at terraforming was implemented, trying to undo the damage of Exterminatus. This has resulted in a verdant belt around the equator, whilst most of the northern and southern hemispheres are still nought but blasted rock.

The population is mostly centered in four massive Hives - Primus, Secundus, Tertius and the nominal capital; Aleph Major. There are a few cites spread across the planet, but these are mostly fortifed compounds given over to rebuliding Imperial Guard Regiments which have been worn down in the incessant fighting around the Eye of Terror.

All was well - until Abbadon launched his 13th Black Crusade, once again unleashing the martial might of the Traitor Legions upon Imperial space.

Terminus Omicron was not to go free. Though the Exterminatus had sealed the Warp Gates and destroyed all the Daemons on the planet, it had not sealed the ruptures permanently, and the veil was as weak as ever. Drawn by the lure of this, and the premise of sacrificing a world to Nurgle, the Hosts of Mortarion and Typhus the Traveller descended upon the world once more. Aided by mysterious Astartes in black power armour, the Old Legions would once again wage war.

The cry of "Ave Imperator!" would be countered by the ferocious roar of "Death to the False Emperor!!"

Terminus Omicron would burn in the fires of war.

The planet of dispute and the warring factions

Terminus Omicron is currently under invasion from Chaos Space Marines primarily of the Death Guard Legion, and supported by Chaos Daemons, again almost wholly from the pantheon of Nurgle. It is not unlikely, that the blood spilled, and the violence will see another Chaos God drawn to the fighting...

Resisting the invaders are the brave Imperial Guardsmen of the Rothwold 56th Jannisars, led in the field by the esteemed colonel Stryker von Sclagenfaust and colonel Arnold Schwartzenhammer, under the overall command of Lord Castellan Ursus Crassus. They will inevitable be aided by the Lords of Titan - the 666th Chapter of the Adeptus Astartes - the so-called Grey Knights!

Chapter I - Invasion and a cunning backhanded blow

Bright streaks of fire falling from the heavens illuminated the night sky of Terminus Omicron. From the bastion stronghold of Lamda-Omicron, Col. Stryker von Sclagenfaust of the 56th Jannissars saw the fire faling, and knew what it meant. Such  a blatant and overt display would only be demonstrated by a foe supremely confident in his own superiority. Not ignorent of the many, varied enemies of the Throne, Col. Sclagenfaust ordered the men of the 56th Jannisars to set out immediatedly and interdict the enemy before they could secure a beacheah.

In the early morning hours, 4th Company marched out with the Colonel to engage the enemy and deny them vital ground.

The Guard were ready and already dug in, by the time two Rhino Armoured Personnel Carriers appeared on the horizon. One painted in black livery, the other in the fetid colours of the Death Guard. The opening salvo of the Guard immobilized the Death Guard's Rhino, but the rest of their fire was largely wasted.

Obliterator Demetrius, ancient and experienced in the ways of war set out at once to decimate the foes. His opening shot saw a Missile Launcher heavy weapons platoon blot from the field of battle.

Advancing forwards, the Guard were eventually engaged in close quarters by the Death Guard

Guardsman Marbo, of the 56th Jannisars had spent his time sneaking up on Demetrius, but he effort were ultimaltely in vain, and he was shredded by bolter fire from the immobilized Death Guard Rhino.

Suddenly, whilst preparing to engage the Death Guard, a blasphemous icon carried by the traitor marines flashed with baleful fire, and the veil of realms cracked and was rent asunder. From the breach poured foul Daemons, who assaulted the brave Guardsmen furiously, and killed them, and Commissar Isenholt to the last man.

Having surveyed the field of battle, Demetrius levelled his weaponized arms at Col. Sclagenfaust, whose Command Platoon had been slain around him. With a single volley from his plasma cannon, the Colonel disappeared in a flash of light, and was no where to be seen.

Falling back, the last of the Guardsmen hunkered down behind a hill, and prepared for their coming doom. For now, they had done their duty - in a sense. Whilst they had not pushed the enemy back, they certainly had prevented a further advance.

Back at outpost Lamda-Omicron, Col. Schwartzenhammer was alerted by the sentries - the enemy had arrived. Realizing that the overt arrival of the enemy had be deliberately done, so as to lure the garrison away from Lamda-Omicron, the Colonel ordered all troops to their stations.

The enemy foolishly thought that they had the advantage of surprise, but the thorough training of the Jannisars would prove them wrong. Siezing the moment, the Guardsmen were ready to receive the advancing traitors.

The battle initially went well, but rapidly went out of control, as the Chaos Sorceror Nihilim used his dark arts to sway the minds of men. A large combined platoon of Guardsmen, under the inspired leadership of Company Commissar Merlotte were assaulted by all the Chaos Marines - both Death Guard and the ones in unidentified black livery - and were eventually slain.

An Obliterator held the traitors right flank, but it was eventually disabled by brave veterans of Platoon Wittmann and a special weapons platoon.

In the end, the Imperial Guard presence was all but wiped out. Only the Guard's right flank did Colonel Schwartzenhammer remain with an immobilized armoured Sentinel, a reduced Missile Launcher heavy weapons squad and his own Command Squad veterans and their Lascannon.

In the center, Veteran Squad Wittmann still stood, bravely defying a pack of summoned Daemons, who had appeared at the darkest hour of the day, when it seemed that the Chaos Marines were about to the overrun by the superior numbers of the Guardsmen.

Wittmann's sacrifice would ultimately be in vain. Lamda-Omicron had been lost to the invaders - now a slow, grinding war would begin...


 

Terminus Omicron. En verden svøbt i aske fra dens egen ligbrænding. Endnu græder dens døde over dens skæbne. Dog er sørgetiden så småt ved at rinde ud, og livet er vendt tilbage, omend vagtsomt og forsøgsvist til det smalle livgivende bælte. Fra rummet ligner planeten et blodigt øje, der åbnes på klem.

The Rothwold 56th Janitsars er et regiment, der har set bedre dage. De er nyligt udstationeret på Terminus Omicron efter at være blevet evakueret fra the Cadian Gate. Hele regimentet blev sat ind mod chaos traitor titan legionen Hounds of Nox, hvor de over en måneds træfninger kom ud for tabstal på 98,2% af deres armor-enheder. Tabstallene for så vidt angår de almindelige guardsmænd var langt mere moderate på kun ca. 60 %, men stillet over for The Hounds of Nox besluttede de kejserlige strategoer at evakuere regimentet frem for at lade dem udrydde helt. Dette usædvanlige held for et Imperial Guard regiment har givet dem tilnavnet "Lucky 56th". Regimentets officerer har imidlertid taget det som en mistillidserklæring og Castellan Ursus Crassus har det som sit erklærede mål atter at blive taget til nåde og få sat sit regiment ind hvor kampene er hårdest.

Fra et Departmento Munitorum synspunkt, så er Terminus Omicron den perfekte R&R lokation. Ingen fjender, ingen installationer af betydning og en befolkning, der vokser hurtigere end planetens hive cities kan udbygges og biosfæren kan understøtte. Regimentet vil på relativt kort tid kunne rekrutteres op på fuldt mandtal.

Chapter II - the plot thickens

Far away from the stronghold Lamda-Omicron, deep in the Calpurth Dust Bowl, an ancient Mechnicus temple stood, desolate and forgotten over the centuries from it's construction. If the old scripts of the Administratum were to be believed, the temple to the Deus Mechanicus had been built in the aftermath of the Heresy itself, prior to it's Scouring by Inquisitor Xerxes.

On this day, the Coven of Lord Batianus were drawn there, having landed quietly in the days prior to the blatant arrival of Lord Nihilim.

However, they were not as veiled in their approach as they thought - awaiting them was the splendid Grey Knights, servants of Him on the Throne, under the inspired leadership of Brother-Captain Arwan.

Taking up positions west of the temple, Captain Arwan led his squad of Grey Knight Terminators into the temple, ready to defend it at any cost. south of his position, Operative LVI of the Temple Vindicare, secured his sniper nest in an old crater.

From the east, a Rhino in the livery of the Death Guard approached, and suddenly malign magicks took hold of Arwan and his squad, dragging them unwilling from the temple.

Running back, it was not long before they again were dragged by the same magick, but this time into the gun sight of a possessed Vindicator tank, painted in the black livery of an unknown traitor Legion.

The Vindicator opened fire, and three Terminators died in the explosion.

Fearlessly, Squad Delphion teleported down onto the field of war, from the orbiting Strike Cruiser "Christofor de Gualbes". When they materialized, they immediatedly strode bravely forward to claim vital ground to the east.

The battle was rapidly turning into a debacle, Brother-Captain Arwan and his courageous squad were eventually overcome by Death Guard marines and the might of a Demolisher battle cannon, against which their powerful Terminator armour availed them nought.

Captain Arwans fall allowed the Arch-Enemy forces to claim the Mechanicus temple for their own nefarious ends - the sole redeeming feature of the Grey Knights presence was the fact that the Daemons whose summoning Lord Batianus had carefully prepared was thwarted, and the Daemons did not appear.

Together with Operative LVI Squad Delpihon wrecked a Rhino APC in black livery, exposing the traitor marines within...

Alas they were unharmed, and had plenty of plasma weaponry, which they promptly fired at the valiant Grey Knights...

But when the dust cleared, three Terminators still stood proud.

The day, however, was far too advanced, and the Terminators could do nought. The battle had been won by the Arch-Enemy - but for what purpose had they claimed a supposedly derelict and useless temple, in the middle of a parched desert, far from habitation?

Regardless of their purpose, the insidius laughter of Sorceror Lord Batianus sounded over the desert dunes that night.

Chapter III - Land's End

During the First Scouring of Terminus Omicron, the city of Land's End had been utterly destroyed. The following centuries had not seen it rise to it's former glory, but some semblence of growth had certainly occured. That all ended with the arrival of the Death Guard.

Bombarded from orbit, the buildings and the civilian population were reduced, until finally the psh would come. The Terminus Omicron Strategos did not have trouble foreseeing that the Arch-Enemy would try to take the city, and thus placed Col. Arnold Schwartzenhammer in command of a company.

Advancing forwards, the Imperial Guard tried to trap the advancing Death Guard Legionnaires in a pincer movement, by advancing veterans on the far right flank and an infantry platoon through the center building.

Furthermore, Guardsman Marbo of the 56th Janitsars - who had been reported dead following the debacle at outpost Lambda-Omicron - appeared behind the Obliterator. His Ripper pistol fired into the hulking back of the pseudo-daemon, but did not find a chink in the armour. Ponderously turning round, Demetrius gave the Guardsman a puzzled look, before unleashing a hail of twin-linked plasma fire at him. When the storm cleared, Guardsman Marbo was nowhere to be seen...

The ploy, however, failed due to dismal firing. This left the Guardsmen exposed and within easy reach for the Death Guard riposte:

The platoon which had advanced into the center building soon discovered the error of their ways, when they were confronted by the Herald of Nurgle himself: Typhus the Traveler:

The Death Guard charge cut down a Stormtrooper squad, a Special Weapons platoon and an Infantry Platoon.

While Typhus put paid to the platoon in the building, killing four of the Guardsmen, breaking their morale.

Before he could cut them down entirely, a well placed shot from the Colonel's Company Command squad lascannon strafed Typhus, forcing him to teleport back to the Terminus Est, which must have been in orbit.

Meanwhile, the Imperial Guard had also been advancing on their left flank, pushing forward to claim a communication array - just as they reached their position, supposedly safe as a brave Sentinel pilot had blocked a group of black armoured Chaos Space Marines, a group of howling daemons erupted from the thin air, summoned to the battle by the copious amounts of blood shed that day. Their appearance destroyed the Imperial hope of winning the day, effectively turning the advance into a rout:

Not to be put low, Col. Arnold Schwartzenhammer personally led the counter-charge against the foul daemons which were now threatning the missile launcher heavy weapons team, and with fire and gusto banished them back to the warp:

The battle, however, was effectively over. The Arch-Enemy had by a bold and risky move ensured the total destruction of the Imperial Guard right flank, and shortly afterwards shattered the left with the aid of their foul daemonic masters.

The Death Guard had won the day, and occupied the city of Land's End.

Col. Arnold Schwartzenhammer survived the battle unscathed and even killed a daemon in personal combat: +2 XP

Et interessant slag. Jeg troede slaget ville være i IGs favør eftersom der blev rullet for 5 objektives og IG jo havde ganske mange scoring units på bordet, men sådan gik det ikke.

Som Man of the Match udråber jeg col. Arnold Schwartzenhammer. Han udviste eksemplarisk lederskab, både med gentagne rul for inspired command med sine ordrer, med skydning, hvor hans enhed fik ram på chaos lorden, og endelig for at have personligt nedkæmpet en fæl enhed lesser daemons med sit elektriske sværd. 2 velfortjente kampagne xp til Schwartzenhammer.

På den onde side må nok nævnes en enhed plague marines, der udviste stort mod ved at køre ned midt iblandt fjenden og overleve rå mængder ildkraft for derefter at nedkæmpe 4 IG enheder i nærkamp og til sidst tage et objektiv.

Det ser alt i alt sort ud for Terminus Omicron. Skal den blive den sidste planet i rækken af kun ganske, ganske få, der har været udsat for den ultimative sanktion, exterminatus, TO gange i nyere kejserlig historie?

Kapitel IV – Imperiet slår igen
Efter den katastrofale udvikling i krigens indledende fase havde Imperiet trukket sine tropper tilbage til det bevoksede bælte omkring Terminus Omicrons hivecities. Selv ikke Lord Castellan Ursus Crassus så noget formål i at lade flere guardsmen lade livet i det tørre askeland blandt fortidens ruiner. I stedet søgte han sammen med den kejserlige guvernør, Lord Dysante, at befæste byerne mod hvad de anså for at være Dødsgardisternes uafvendelige angreb på befolkningscentrene og hovedstanden, Aleph Major.

Højt over planetens overflade lå imidlertid slagkrydseren "Stella Splendens" som netop var ankommet til støtte for Strike Cruiseren "Christofor de Gualbes". Ombord var en anseelig del af Grey Knights chapterets 4. brotherhood under kommando af Grand Master Rector Lux Aeternus.

Med uro i sindet modtog han via vox en situationsrapport fra Brother-Captain Arwan, der lå hårdt såret på "Christofor de Gualbes". Hans nylige nederlag til Sorceror Lord Batianus havde kostet store tab til de to Grey Knights squads under hans ledelse og betydningen af nederlaget stod endnu ikke klart, da ingen havde haft held til at fastslå kaosgardisternes sande hensigt med angrebet på Terminus Omicron endnu.

Under slagkrydserens manøvrer for at komme tættere på planeten uden at blotte sig for Kaosskibene i systemet lød pludselig en alarmklaxon. Augurerne og mystikerne ombord var ikke længe om at fastslå årsagen til arlarmen: Dæmonisk indtrængning på det materielle plan. Aeternus følte det i sin sjæl. Arnestedet for indtrængningen var ikke fjernt fra det tempel, som Batianus havde erobret fra Brother-Captain Arwan tidligere. Der var ingen tid at spilde. Aeternus beordrede en øjeblikkelig overflyvning af stedet i lavt kredsløb og bød sine krigere være rede til øjeblikkelig indsats.

Ud af æteren manifesterede sig den frygtelige dæmonprins Be'Lakor. På mørke vinger styrede han som en skæbnens pil mod brother Pax Mortis mens han bombarderede ham med bolts of change. Da dette ikke trængte gennem hans panser angreb dæmonprinsen med et frygteligt skrig, og med hans kløer tilføjede hans Pax Mortis så store skader, at han blev immobiliseret. Aeturnus så hvad der skete og hastede mod kampen med sin squad. Ved en samlet indsat lykkedes det dem at forvise dæmonprinsen tilbage til æteren.

Som et sidste udfald forsøgte dæmonernes leder, Mamon, at angribe terminator squad Severus. Dæmonens store korpus gjorde det desværre umuligt for ham at nå sit mål, hvorfor Severus og hans mænd fik frit skud på dæmonen og angreb ham efterfølgende.  På trods af dæmonens unaturligt seje hud lykkedes det squad Severus at besejre den med deres Nemesis-våben.

Ved slagets slutning var alle de store dæmoner forvist, mens de mindre dæmoner endnu skumlede i bygningernes ruiner.  Aeternus' styrke havde kun lidt ubetydelige tab. Dæmoninkursionen var bremset, men endnu ikke standset.

Chapter V - The Culling

The day after the first Imperial victory on Omicron Terminus, Lord Castellan Ursus Crassus ordered the creation of strongpoints around the capital, Aleph Major.

The strongpoints were to guard the population centers outside the Hives, and guard against the inevitable Death Guard incursions.

Now that the Grey Knights, under the inspired leadership of Rector Majoris Lux Aeternus, had decisively determined the presence of daemonic forces on Omicron, denying the planet to the Arch-Enemy would require ever more drastic measures. The populace would be conscripted, and the worst violent offenders in the Imperial penitentiary system would be inducted into Penal regiments. These "Strafbattalionen" would serve to slow the Arch-Enemy with their bodies, their souls commened to the Emperor in advance.

One such strongpoint created on the orders of Lord Castellan Ursus Crassus was "Yarrik Point". Reinforced with a battery of missile defences capable of striking voidships in orbit, and under the able command of the able military leader, Col. Arnold Schwartzenhammer, it was to hold the enemy at bay, until the Imperial Heavy Ordonance sections could be deployed.

On the morning of the 13th day of invasion, the Guardsmen of 23rd/132th Santigar Janissars were alerted by the rumbling of approaching Rhinos. Intelligence confirmed the Rhinos as being in the livery of the Death Guard and in the black of a still unidentified Chaos Marine warband.

Col. Schwartzenhammer ordered his men to spread out, and deny the Arch-Enemy vital objectives on the battlefield.

The Arch-Enemy, led by an ancient and fell-creature named Valnir the Reaper, Champion of Typhus, Slayer of Verdansk, tried to approach the Imperial lines behind some small hills.

However, the was little to be done - Valnir realized that his able Legionnaires would have to brave the fire of the False Emperor's lapdogs, before they could complete the objective set them by Lord Typhus. With the slightest of nods, he ordered his force to advance.

The fire from the Imperial lines shook and dented the ancient Rhino armoured personnel carries, but they did little besides that. Suddenly, the very air was split by a fork of lightning, and when the spectacle of colours faded, 8 malign Daemons of Chaos had been summoned, ready to strike at the Imperials.

They flung themselves at the command squad of 1st Platoon, and shredded Lt. Rogers with their taloned hands.

Not to be defeated by this minor setback, Col. Schwartzenhammer calmly ordered his force to advance and throw back the invaders. The fire from the Imperial line managed to the destroy the Death Guard Rhino, and with the rousing cry of "FOR THE EMPEROR!!!" the Imperial Guard Janissars attacked!

On the Arch-Enemy right flank, the Death Guard, recently exposed by the destruction of their Rhino transport, were attacked by the Penal Squad, recently released from the ward of criminally insane.

The attack, however, stopped in its tracks, like a wave hitting an implacable wall of steel. The Death Guard held their own - though the raving lunatics did bring down one of their number. The recently arrived Daemons also stood their ground losing but one of their own, but slew in return 4 Guardsmen. The greatest destruction, however, was wrought by the explosion of the black Rhino, which killed three of it's occupants, 5 Guardsmen, 3 Daemons and 1 member of the Penal squad.

The Imperial attack had been brave, but had now stalled. The hellish wrath of Valnir the Reaper would now be unleashed on the Imperial lapdogs.

With a push of his mighty wings, Valnir took to the air, and landed in front of an autocannon Heavy Weapons Platoon, while black armoured Marines assaulted the Infantry Platoon who had destroyed their Rhino.

Valnir thundered into the Autocannon squad, easily tearing them apart, while the Death Guard killed the Penal Platoon, who broke under their onslaught, realizing that the decayed Death Guard were an enemy unlike no other. The Death Guard gunned down the fleeing criminals, wet gurgles of pleasure emanating from their ivory coloured helmets. The black armoured marines charged the Combined Infantry Platoon, and took but one loss of their own. Faced by enemies on two fronts, even the fanatical Commissar leading them, saw that retreat was the wiser course of action.

Col. Schwartzenhammer stared in disbelief as his army disintegrated around him. However, all was not lost! From the skies, Stormtrooper Recon Detachment Zeta airdropped in, plasmaguns bristling with charged readiness. Ordering all available guns to concentrate on Valnir, the Colonel prayed to the Emperor for deliverance.

His prayers, however, were not heard.

In front of him, towered the terrifing form of Valnir. Col. Schwartzenhammer closed his eyes and prayed to the Emperor for mercy...

The Stormtroopers could only look on, struck mute with horror, as Valnir charged into the Company Command Squad turning it's brave members into bloody chunks of gristle, meat and bone. Behind them, they barely noticed the black armoured marines closing in, gunning them down from behind.

The battle had decisively turned against the Imperial. The Colonel was gone, and the center had irrevocably been shattered. Just as things could not get any worse, further Arch-Enemy reinforcements arrived - right on the missile silo, securing it for the invaders.

Commissar Flint led his routed remnants off the field - whilst the two armoured Sentinels of Heavy Recon Platoon "Falcon" desperately tried to close with and destroy the Arch-Enemy.

Their efforts, however, were shortlived. One was destroyed by the aspiring champion of the black armoured marines with a well-placed Melta-Bomb, whilst the other was torn apart by Valnir himself, who had just finished annihilating the Imperial flank in personal combat, for the glory of Father Nurgle!

As the last Sentinel fell burning to the ground, the battle was done. The Imperials had fled the field, leaving not a single man alive on the field. Of corpses, there were plenty.

Hoisting the severed head of the Sentinel pilot towards the sky, Valnir bellowed his praise to Nurgle. Now the corruption of the local population, rendered defenceless could begin. The Imperial defences and missile batteries scarcely noticed...

Terminus Omicron Campaign
Battle of 28. August 2011

Chapter VI - "For Home and Family"
På Terminus Omicron blev situationen mere og mere uholdbar for hver time der gik. Rapporterne om fjendens position og aktivitet tegnede et stadigt mere dystert billede af chancerne for at bringe planeten tilbage under kontrol. Lord Dysante, planetens kejserlige guvernør, blev nærmest panisk angst ved tanken om, hvad kaosinfestationen ville gøre ved planetens økonomiske vækst og hans personlige indtægt. Selv om Dysante var en financielt ansvarlig guvernør og en ganske habil exoøkonom, så var han på ingen måde en kujon eller en mand, hvis rigdomme man kunne forvente at rane uden kamp. Hans titel som øverstbefalende for planetens lokale defence force var heller ikke kun en æresbevisning. Han tilbød derfor at stille sine planetary defence force troopers til rådighed for Lord Castellan Ursus Crassus som en del af the Rothwold 56th Jannisars of the Imperial Guard. Crassus accepterede straks tilbuddet, der med et slag bragte hans regiment næsten op på fuld styrke. I forvejen var der blevet inducted så mange indfødte Omicronians, at de oprindelige tropper fra Rothwold var i undertal. Lord Dysantes status blandt de lokale kunne måske udnyttes til at inspirere dem til endnu større mod. Dysante fik samtidig tildelt rang af colonel i the Imperial Guard. Med de nye tropper beordrede Ursus Crassus Lord Dysante til at genindtage ruinbyen Lands End, der var blevet tabt i invasionens indledende fase. For at støtte den nyligt etablerede kommandostruktur blev col. Arnold Schwartzenhammer sendt med indsatsstyrken. Schwartzenhammer havde netop ved bionisk implantering overvundet sine svære kvæstelser for dæmonprinsen Valnirs hånd i forsvaret for Aleph Major.

I Lands End havde Death Guard marinerne forladt byen. Ikke en eneste levende sjæl var der at finde. Dem kampene ikke havde fået ram på var omkommet i den pest, der var blevet udløst af de pestilente invasionstropper. Herefter havde chaosdæmoner opsporet de sidste overlevende ved at snuse sig frem til deres sjæles fært i æteren. For at ruste indsatsstyrkens tropper til at modstå det usunde miljø var de blevet inokuleret med den mest potente antibiotiske cocktail kejserlig sanitet kunne tilbyde. Cheflægen spøgte med, at man kunne indoperere døde rotter i maven på tropperne uden at de ville få betændelse af det.

Byen var forladt, men langt fra uden vogtere. Så snart Lord Dysante og col. Schwartzenhammers tropper nåede byens udkant materialiserede byens forsvarsstyrke sig. Dæmoner.

IG vandt rullet for første tur, men valgte at lade den gå til dæmonerne. Dæmonhæren havde valgt en alt eller intet strategi med alle hærens bedste enheder i the preferred wave, men fik desværre the unprefered wave ind først. Den bestod af 3 units af plaguebearers, der alle forsøgte at lande i nærheden af dæmonobjektivet.

Father Nurgle var blevet voldsomt misfornøjet med dæmonerne, da de havde tilsidesat hans direktiv om, at alle dæmonsquads skal have det uhellige antal på 7. Han viste sin misfornøjelse ved at lade en af de 3 første dæmonsquads forsvinde i the warp. Hvilken ironi.

IG-hæren rykkede frem med de 3 sentinels forrest. Kejserlig ildkraft formåede ikke at skabe tab hos dæmonerne. Den store styrke af guardsmen holdt sig tilbage pga. en slem fornemmelse om, at der måske ville komme flere dæmoner til. Heldigvis gav the Officer of the Fleet dæmonerne -1 til deres  reserverul. Næste tur forsøgte dæmonernes leder at materialisere sig lige mellem IGhærens to command squads med Lord Dysante og col. Schwartzenhammer. Nurgles misfornøjelse ramte dog også ham, og han blev forsinket til næste tur i the warp. Den fæle Blight Drone var knap så heldig, og forsvandt ganske og aldeles i the warp. Trods aldrig Nurgle! – hvis du er en dæmon. Dæmonprinsen Be'Lakor scatterede 10" og endte helt på kanten af bordet. Han var dog stadig på banen og havde vinger, så han fløj hurtigt frem over det smalle bord og fik ram på kejserens plasmasentinel.

Han blev dog skudt grundigt til slagger af store mængder plasma- og meltaskud fra de tapre menige guardsmen. Den sidste plaguebearer squad materialiserede sig nær hvor Be'Lakors rygende ruin af en krop lå, men blev straks angrebet og nedkæmpet af horden af guardsmen.

Mamon kom endeligt på bordet i næste tur, men på grund af IGhærens store fremmarch mod dæmonobjektivet så han sig nødsaget til at lande på egen banehalvdel, hvor forvaringsfangerne under ledelse af fængselsfunktionær Igor Bastenbelt netop var ankommet. De fik en krank skæbne og blev drevet på flugt af Mamon.

Mamon fik derefter ram på en sentinel, og stoppede dermed dens løb mod dæmonobjektivet.  Den anden sentinel blev stoppet i nærkamp med en plaguebearer squad.

I slagets sidste tur løb store dele af IGhæren alt hvad remmer og tøj kunne holde ned mod dæmonobjektivet, men spillet sluttede i tur 5 uden en klar vinder. Hver hær havde bidt sig fast i en del af Lands End.

Terminus Omicron

A planet blighted by war. The Imperium is reeling after several defeats against the Death Guard legion. The forces of Chaos had prior to the invasion infiltrated several local PDF defence centers, causing several areas to fall immediatedly upon the arrival of the Chaos Warhost.

Following the invasion, Terminus Omicron is truly a planet divided.

The west is under the yoke of Chaos occupation, whilst the east is still in the fold of the Imperium, and subservient to Govenor Dysante.

Endelig en opdatering. Det tog også mange henvendelser fra den onde ånd, før den kom  ;)

Det er næsten umuligt at se chaos-flagene på chaos territorierne. Kunne man ikke få et andet billede tættere på og mere fra siden?

Mens jeg brygger på en opdatering med Apocalypse slaget i går poster jeg lige min hær. Det blev til 4100 pts. combined Imperial Forces.

Terminus Omicron Campaign
Battle of 9. October 2011

Chapter VII - "Death and Destruction Aplenty"
Mens Kaosstyrkerne bredte sig som en pest over Terminus Omicron og alle planetens våbenføre mænd var blevet mobiliseret og kastet ind I kampen, stod det klart, at slaget ikke kun var en enkelt træfning i Imperiets bagland. Mængden og kvaliteten af ærkefjendens tropper kunne desværre kun betyde én ting: Abaddons 13. Sorte Korstog havde åbnet en ny front mod Imperiet hvor ingen havde ventet det. Afstanden til The Cadian Gate og The Eye of Terror var betydelig, men de svækkede grænser til det immaterielle plan omkring Terminus Omicron gjorde, at Kaosflåderne hurtigt kunne komme frem til planeten. Hurtigere selv end nogen ville have troet muligt i stabilt warpvejr med The Astonomicon skinnende på sit klareste.

Forståelsen kom sent til de kejserlige strategos, men svaret faldt prompte. Generalmobilisering. Fuldt udfald fra Aleph Major. Orbitalt bombardement med taktiske nukleare sprænghoveder af kendte og mistænkte fjendtlige positioner. Alle sekundære prioriteter irrelevante. Civile tabstal <100% acceptable.

Under udfaldet fra Aleph Major kom de kejserlige styrker hurtigt i kontakt med fjendtlige tropper, der uden nogen havde anet uråd havde samlet sig i betydeligt antal uden for hovedstaden til et angreb.

Vi spillede apocalypsemissionen fra grundbogen med den modifikation, at vi spillede med table halves. Vi havde aftalt den begrænsning på assetet disruption beacon, at den kun virkede inden for 36" og max kunne disrupte enheder 36" væk fra deres nedslagssted. Ellers WYSIWYG og NAS. Kaos bød 6 minutter i deployment bid og Imperials bød 10.

1. tur gik til Kaos, der rykkede frem mod de kejsertro. Death Guard rhino rykkede 18" frem på vejen. Valnir fløj efter. Dæmonerne fik som sædvanlig the unprefered wave ind først og landede på objektiver. Blight drones skød kanonen af en plasmasentinel. Lashsorceror lasher Stryker von Schlagenfaust ud i det åbne, men vindcatorskuddet mod ham misser.

På kejserlig side meltaer infantry blob squad #1 Fallen Angels rhino. Det lykkedes ikke infantry blob squad #2 at assaulte Fallen Angels, der var blevet skudt ud af deres rhino, på grund af et 2"assaultrul gennem difficult terrain. Eversor assassin ruller til gengæld 5" på fleet og assaulter lash sorceror på objective.

Strykers squad meltaer og assaulter vindicator, men den overlever mirakuløst uskadt. Death Guard rhino overlever også al ildkraft, men bliver wrecked af GK dreadnought i cc.

Scheduled bombardement rammer Raptors og Fallen Angels, men kun 1 model dør. Kaos tur 2 ser Mamoms Get ankomme netop uden for rækkevidde af disruption beacon. De beslutter IKKE at despoile det objektiv, de lander på. Klogt siden der kun er 2 objektives i den side, som Kaos står stærkt på.

Plague Hulk bliver disrupted 36" ned i det fjerneste hjørne af slagmarken. Nurgles Herald udløser sin sides strategic asset: Plaguestorm (fra Apoc Reload. Slår en model ihjel, hvis man på 2D6 slår over Toughnes, og fortsætter derefter ubegrænset til andre modeller indtil der er en, der ikke dør). Desværre slår den første model han targeter, et lascannon heavy weapon team, 3 på sit rul og overlever og stopper dermed asset'ets frygtindgydende potentiale.

Death Guard assaulter Ursus Crassus og Kell. Valnir assaulter veteran squad. Fallen Angels assaulter blob squad #2. Raptors skifter kurs og rykker mod Stryker og Dysantes position nær slagmarkens koncentration af objectives. Lash sorceror dør i cc mod Eversor. Blight drone skyder autocannon heavy weapons squad væk. Imperials immobiliserer en Blight Drone og den plasmaløse plasmasentinel assaulter den for at prøve at tage den ud i nærkamp. Det lykkedes ikke. Schwartzenhammer beordrer las-plas-infantry squad til first rank fire – second rank fire på plague bearer squad på objectiv. 1 dør. Umuligt at slå plague bearers ihjel med lasguns. Guardsman Marbo dukker op bag dem og lander sin democharge delvis på sig selv. Plague bearers mister 1 og Marbo overlever.  Blob squad #1 assaulter en plague bearer squad. Rough riders kommer ind fra reserves og assaulter Raptors. De dør alle til de væmmelige hunting lances. Terminators + Lux teleporterer ind på slagmarken nær de 4 objektiver. De får med skydning ram på en obliterator.

Vindicator overlever igen forbløffende meget ildkraft. Scheduled bombardement rammer et objektiv og en blight drone, obliterator og plague bearers, men kun 1 plague bearer dør. Ursus Crassus og co. klarer sig forbløffende godt i cc mod Death Guard. Mest fordi de overlever.

Fallen Angels terminators + kaos lord bliver disrupted af disruption beacon og lander i en skov, hvor 2 terminators dør til dangerous terrain rul. Vindicator skyder 3 GK terminators væk. Obliterator plasma cannon får også ram på et par stykker. Blight drone skyder Dysante og primaris psyker. Rent insta-death. Mamon laver sin spray cannon på Schwartzenhammers command squad og assaulter derefter. Schwartzenhammer dør igen til en fæl dæmon. Plague bearer squad assaulter las-plas infantry squad. Valnir gør det af med veterans. Plague Hulk, pink horrors og blood letters løber alt hvad remmer og tøj kan holde for at komme ned til noget action og nogle objektiver, men der er langt.

Imperials får de sidste reserver ind. Stormtroopers deep striker ind. Penal legionaires løber Ursus Crassus til undsætning. Håber de på en benådning? Sidste GK terminators lander bag fjendens linier. Desværre langt fra hvor de tilsigtede det. Lidt for tæt på bloodletters. Ups.

2xlascannon sentinels + hunterkiller missiles skyder løs på den frygtede vindicator. Rammer alt. Glancer og penetrerer. Ingen skade. Ak. Resten af blob squad #2 meltaer kaos lord Cypher til døde. Sidste scheduled orbital bombardement rammer den usårlige vindicator, og her fejler dens warpgivne held den endeligt og den wreckes. GK dreadnought charger Death Guard men fejler alt. Ursus Crassus dør endeligt til Death Guard. Penal legion charger ind i kampen. De har rullet psychopaths og har furious charge. Det hjælper desværre ikke nær nok mod Death Guard og de dør. Blob Squad #1 vinder over plague bearers. Lux Aeternus forlader sin squad og løber ned mod Valnir og Death Guard, der ser ud til at kunne overwhelme det hjørne af slagmarken med sit objektiv. Valnir har slået GK dreadnought ihjel i cc og derfor heldigvis ikke i combat længere og dør i skydefasen til masseplasma/melta fra platoon command squad med 3 rapidfiring plasma og stormtrooper squad 1 og 2 med plasma og melta guns.

I Kaos tur 4 skyder obliterators en enlig platoon commander væk fra et objektiv og forhinderer dermed Imperials i at claime. De skyder også to GK Terminators væk fra et andet objektiv, der heller ikke claimes. Overlevende Death Guard med flamer skyder missile launcher squad og får ram på det meste af platoon command squad, der står på et objektiv, og assaulter derefter missile launcher squad.  Bloodletters assaulter GK terminators, der fejler alle rul og dør grusomt.

I Kaos tur 5 dør Plague bearer squad i kamp mod las-plas infantry squad på et kritisk tidspunkt. Mamon knægter den sidste blob squad. Kaos terminator lord prøver at skyde/assaulte den GK terminator squad der står foran ham på et objektiv, men fejler delvist. Den snedige Death Guard marine løber væk fra Aeternus ud af bygningens bagindgang og flamer/assaulter den infantry squad der står og claimer et objektiv, og trækker dem derved væk fra objektivet.

Vi bruger det heltesystem vi udviklede til What Price Victory kampagnen, blot med den modifikation, at heltene kun stiger et level, når de har tjent XP svarende til deres toughness. Det er der så ikke nogen, der har gjort endnu, men de er næsten alle sammen tæt på. Hver side har 3 kampagnehelte. Kaos mangler endnu at afsløre den sidste.

Terminus Omicron Campaign
Battle of 16. October 2011

Chapter VIII - "Breakout at Sector 14"
En af det 13. Korstogs lokale Kaoskommandører på Terminus Omicron, Nurgle sorceroren Necrodemus., havde lagt en snedig plan for at vende Imperiets seneste stærke succes i oplandet til Aleph Major til et grumt nederlag. Han havde på snedig vis overlevet det katastrofale slag, som blev anført af Lord Typhus. Typhus havde forladt planetens overflade i afsky og sad og skumlede i mørket på hans Chaos Grand Cruiser mens han grundede over hvorfor han tilsyneladende havde tabt Nurgles gunst. Necrodemus på den anden side følte at dette fravær var hans store chance. Han tog kommandoen over de flygtende Kaosstyrker og samlede dem til en lille men stålsat gruppe, der skulle skære de kejserlige forsyningslinier over og dermed stoppe deres fremmarch mod Kaosstyrkernes landingssted. Han havde fra sine allierede i the Warp fået at vide, at Imperial Sector 14 var det sted, som nemmest kunne overløbes af en lille og mechaniseret styrke.

Uden Necrodemus' vidende havde col. Schwartzenhammer, Imperiets helt, fået underretning af sine spioner om, at Kaosangrebet var på vej mod hans forsyningslinier. Han beordrede øjeblikkeligt en del af sine sejrrige styrker at vende om og stillede sig selv i spidsen for dem for at møde fjenden på slagmarken.

Der blev spillet Seize Ground med 4 objektiver og Dawn of War deployment. IG valgte at deployere først og tog første tur. Kaos valgte ikke at deployere nogen enheder på bordet.

Et højtstående medlem af Terminus Omicrons High Commissariat (count as Yarrick) har benyttet IG tur 1 til at rykke frem i den store bygning i midten af slagmarken sammen med sin squad. Der claimer de et af objektiverne.

En Chaos Sorceror har dog andre planer med dem, og lasher dem ud af bygningen, hvorefter en vindicator lobber et skud i hovedet på dem og dræber 14 guardsmen. Av! Den resterende squad rykker hidsigt frem og får som hævn ram på sorceroren med meltaskud og instakiller ham. Nu står de så til gengæld lidt uheldigt i forhold til resten af kaoshæren.

Necrodemus, Nurgle Sorceror og Chaos Fanboy Extraordinaire, kører galt i sin rhino, men stiger ud og rykker frem med Dødsdrengene. De engagerer Resten af IG squaden og nedkæmper dem brutalt, hvorefter de rykker ind i ruinen for at claime objektivet.

Count as Yarrick fejler igen sit Ironwill-rull (se chapter VII) og må fjernes som casualty. I mellemtiden har den næste store IG squad rykket ind i bygningen,  og de og hele resten af IG hæren skyder på Necrodemus og drengene og får mere end halveret deres antal. Necrodemus lykkes dog med at nedkæmpe IGerne i bygningen og den enlige overlevede Death Guard lykkes med at claime bygningens objektiv. Det sker dog på bekostning af Necrodemus eget liv, da col. Schwartzenhammer får sendt et lascannonskud efter dem. Necrodemus vælger at tage hittet, da Death Guardens død vil forhindre Kaos i at claime det ene objektiv og dermed tabe dem spillet. Lidt ukarakteristisk heltemod og selvopofrelse for den større sag fra Kaos her.

Penal Legion squaden med psychopaths infiltrerer ind fra siden og angriber obliteratoren i nærkamp. Efter at have rullet meget under snit i 2 ture og pænt meget under snit i 1 tur bukker de under og løber. De fik kun lavet et wound på obliteratoren.

Andetsteds på slagmarken står en platoon command squad med 2 plasmaguns og claimer et objektiv, lige indtil 3 Chaos Terminators deep striker ned ved siden af dem. De vælger dog at skyde plasmasentinellen i stykker og bliver som tak plasmaet til døde alle 3 af command squadens plasmahelvede.

Det lykkes endelig IG firebasen med en missile launcher heavy weapon squad og en company command squad med lascannon og col. Schwartzenhammer samt en lascannonsentinel at sprænge Chaos vindicatoren i luften.

En Fallen Angels squad, der er blevet skudt ud af deres rhino af den anden lascannonsentinel forsøger at claime endnu et objektiv, men den djærve sentinel engagerer dem i nærkamp, og de formår ikke at bringe den ned, heller ikke med hjælp fra obliterator Demetrius og hans powerfist.

Spillet slutter efter tur 7 med Kaos og Imperials hver i besiddelse af et objektiv.

Results: Tactical draw. Imperials vinder tie-roll og erobrer territoriet, samt pligten til at skrive battle report. *suk*

Chapter IX - "The Summoner"
Mens de kejserlige styrker rykkede frem over en bred front brugte Grey Knights tiden til at undersøge hvem det var, der igen og igen lukkede de fæle dæmoner ind på det materielle plan. Hvilken fæl vilje var bag de gentagne udbrud på Terminus Omicron af warpbæster?

Inquisitor Dunkelwelle var en specialist i at udfinde kilden til warpforurening. Hans lille følge af psykere var trænet som sporhunde, og med sig havde de en transportabel psi-scanner, der kunne opfange aethersignaler. Efter kort tids feltarbejde stod det klart for Dunkelwelle, at der på planeten befandt sig indtil flere psykere, der var trænet i at hidkalde de ikke-fødtes legioner. Psi-scanneren og hans psykiske sporhunde ledte ham hurtigt på sporet af en af de stærkeste psykere.

Grandmaster Aeternus stillede sig personligt i spidsen for støttestyrken af Grey Knights. Det ville være af stor betydning for krigen, hvis de kunne svække fjendens evne til at hidkalde sine dæmoniske allierede.

Snart indhentede Aeternus' og Dunkelwelles ekspedition en vandrende figur i snavsetblå powerarmour. Han sansede dem og gjorde holdt på en bakke med forladte skyttegrave foran en række forladte bastioner. Han havde indset, at han var blevet opdaget og besluttede at gøre holdt for at kæmpe. Hans øjne begyndte at gløde med et overjordisk lys og hans stemme steg til hylende højder i et dæmonisk hidkalderitual. I takt med at de infernalske allierede dukkede frem på sletten foran ham blev hans livskraft suget væk og hovedet lignede mere og mere et kranium. Han havde ingen mennesker at ofre og kunne kun hente energi fra sin egen krop.

Der blev spillet Capture and Control med 2 objektiver og Dawn of War deployment. GK valgte at deployere sidst så dæmonerne kunne få første tur.

Daemons fik for en gangs skyld The Prefered Wave ind først, men en Blight Drone forsøgte at lande oven på Pink Horrors og blev Lost in the Warp. Deployment er virkelig dæmonhærens svage side. Be'Lakor, Daemon Prince of Tzeentch, fik ram på en terminator med sin Bolt of Tzeentch. Horrors kunne ikke gennemtrænge den kraftige rustning med deres skydning.

Aeternus ledte en squad af ædle sølverskinnende terminators frem mod den formastelige summoner, der var faldet om i ekstatiske konvulsioner. En hidkaldt gruppe af Plague Bearers havde indtaget de forladte skyttegrave. Næsten alle Pink Horrors blev udryddet med skydning. Vindicare Assassin "Operative XIII" infiltrerede sig ind på sidelinien og sneg sig også ned i en af de forladte skyttegrave, hvor han gjorde klar til at benytte sig af sit dødelige Exitus-arsenal.

De øvrige terminators formåede med rå mængder ildkraft og psy-bolt-ammunition at få ram på Be'Lakor.
Endnu en unit af Plague Bearers kom på bordet, men blev Misplaced under deres deep strike-manøvre. Den udspekulerede GK-spiller satte dem på nede i den fjerne ende af bordet. Selv om de ville have vundet galaktiske guldmedaljer i 100-meter dæmonløb for deres run-moves i resten af spillets ture (slog kun 6-ere), så nåede de aldrig frem til kampen.

Mens Aeternus og hans krigere nedkæmpede Plague Bearerne og tog den bevidstløse Summoner i forvaring steg Nurgles mægtige dæmonprins Mamon ind på slagmarken, hvor han vendte sin opmærksomhed mod den enhed af Grey Knights, der passede på Psi-scanneren.

Operative XIII skød en turbo-penetrator-runde mod Mamon, og tildelte ham 2 wounds. Aeternus indså, at det kun var ham, der havde en chance mod den forfærdelige dæmon og løb så hurtigt han kunne mod den.

Endnu en unit af Plague Bearers dukkede op bag ved Psi-scanneren og dens vogtere. En unit af terminators flyttede sig hen for at blokere deres adgang til scanneren. Hvis dæmonerne kunne få fat i scanneren ville det kraftigt forringe muligheden for at finde andre Kaospsykere.

Mamon angreb de stoiske terminatorer, men formåede i løbet af et par ture ikke at slå mere end 3 ihjel, mens han fik to wounds selv. Snart kom Auternus ilende, og tildelte dæmonen et banesår. Mamon nåede dog også at give Aeternus et enkelt wound.

Spillet sluttede med en massiv sejr til Kejserens Kohorter. Dunkelwelle selv havde dog måttet lade livet, men en af hans psykere overlevede til at fortsætte jagten.

Ja - der er desværre ikke så mange lilla flag som De Mørke Guder kunne ønske sig. IG er faktisk voldhårde, og en "dødblob fra Helvede" åd her i weekenden 1 Landraider, 1 Rhino, 5 Terminators, 7 Death Guard Plague Marines og 7 Summoned Lesser Daemons...av av av...

Flamers did not help. De squads der gik på dem havde alle flamers, og trods de grillede en ~25 Guardsman inden deres respektive charges, så fik de stadig klø af blobben. 40 Guardsmen, 1 Commissar, 1 Ministorum Priest 4 SG'er med power weapons, 3 meltaguns og én flamer. Masser og masser af ablative wounds og 15 power weapon angreb i turen + 2 power fist angreb, med re-roll to hit. Brrr......

Farseer Rhiadan skriver rapporten, og der kommer også billeder af to fuldt malede hære, med superfedt terræn :-)

Ja ok, det lyder grumt...

Terminus Omicron Campaign

Chapter X - "A Pyrrhic Victory"
Imperiets krigsmaskine var langsomt men sikkert ved at komme op i gear, og ved at kaste titusindvis af ultimativt undværlige guardsmen ind i kampen lykkedes det efterhånden de kejserlige kommandanter med Lord Castellan Ursus Crassus i spidsen at vende krigslykken og begynde at rulle Kaosstyrkerne tilbage.

Kommandanterne henvendte sig til den mindre Mechanicus-koloni på planeten, de første til at genkolonisere planeten efter Exterminatus anno M33.567, for med deres hjælp ville det med stor sikkerhed kunne lykkes at smide de invaderende styrker på porten. Arch Magos Utmosis Nullum sendte følgende svar:

"Det er med beklagelse vi har noteret os, at den kejserlige flåde med orbitalt bombardement har ramt flere Mechanicus fabricaries med nukleare torpedoer. Disse fabricarier opererer nu med mellem 5 og 15% af optimal effektivitet. Dette er ganske uacceptabelt og må straks indstilles. Med hensyn til tilflytternes appel om vores bistand ved de pågående kamphandlinger, så overvejer vi for tiden, hvilken af de stridende faktioner, vi efter Mars-traktatens bestemmelser er forpligtet til at yde bistand, idet vi har noteret os, at space marines fra the Dark Angels Chapter  tilsyneladende deltager i kampen mod Dem, hvorfor vi må betvivle deres postulat om, at De opererer under kejserlig autoritet og segl. Vi har sendt en hasteforespørgselsprotokol til Mars desangående. Kontakt os ikke igen. Vi vil kontakte Dem."

På slagmarken var col. Schwartenhammer og col. Lord Dysante ved at forberede en varm velkomst til en fremrykkende styrke af dødsgardister og Fallen Angels (eller er de Dark Angels?). Da Dysante brugte vox-forbindelsen til at drøfte et meget vigtigt emne med sin kone, Lady Putinella, glemte IG desværre at forsøge at seize the initiative. CSM valgte bordhalvdel og startede tur 1. Dæmonprinsen Valnir beordrede et hold Fallen Angel terminators ind i Death Guard landraideren "Cruel Torture". Da squadens sjette og nyeste medlem indvendte, at der lugtede grimt og var uhørt ulækkert indvendigt, kappede Valnir hovedet af ham, og det blev enden på det. "Cruel Torture" med passagerer ræsede snart frem mod den ventende fjende.

I tur to fortsatte CSM tæt op til IGs kamplinie, og IGs reserver kom på bordet. CSM skød resten af autocannons bort. En nymalet scout sentinel fik skudt en Blight Drone ned, mens en deling af deep strikende storm troopers med melta guns ikke kunne ramme den anden Blight Drone. I tur 3 kørte "Cruel Torture" frem og afleverede sin last af terminators lige foran en massiv combined squad af IG bestående af 42 mand, heraf 4 sergeants med power weapons, 1 commissar med power weapon og en ministorum priest med evicerator samt 3 melta gunners.

Terminators skød med flamer og chargede. Desværre havde den klamme indelukkede luft i "Cruel Torture" gjort dem øre i hovederne, og de formåede kun at slå 5 guardsmen ihjel. IG combined squad slog igen og dræbte alle 5 terminators til gengæld.

Fallen Angels squad steg ud af deres rhino og beskød col. Schwartzenhammers squad. Schwartzenhammers squad stod i cover, og Schwartzenhammer havde fået stealth i kampagneskill, og gik to ground og fik dermed et 2+ coversave. Ingen døde, bortset fra en aspiring champion, hvis plasma pistol overheatede. I IGs tur 3 skød IG combined squad landraideren til slagger med sine melta guns. En stormtrooper squad med plasmaguns var Behind Enemy Lines, og dukkede op i rapid fire range af Fallen Angels squad, som de prompte reducerede til 3 mand. I tur 4 vendte den vamle Blight Drone "Vomitus Maximus" sig mod de deep strikede stormtroopers med melta guns og sendte dem til de evige jagtmarker med sin bræktemplate. Death Guard squad "Festus" ristede 18 guardsmen fra combined squaden med sine flamers og chargede. Det tog to ture, men IG squaden tog også livet af hele squad "Festus". I mellemtiden havde obliterator Demetrius ophugget to lascannon sentinels, og var blevet skudt ihjel til gengæld af en veteransquad, der selv derpå blev slagtet af en gruppe summoned lesser daemons. Valnir var fløjet mod Dysante og havde overvundet hans squad i nærkamp. Selv stod Valnir tilbage med kun 1 wound dog. Valnir døde derefter i et brag af plasmaild, da en platoon command squad med 3 plasmaguns lavede rapid fire på ham. "Vomitus Maximus" fik skudt en scout sentinel ned. Schwartenhammers lascannonteam skød Death Guard rhino til slagger, hvilket var heldigt for IG, eftersom den contestede det ene objektiv, imperials holdt. Fallen Angels squad-resterne chargede Schwartzenhammer, men blev dræbt. IG combined squad chargede i tur 5 de sidste lesser deamons, og fik dem sendt tilbage til the warp. En penal legion squad var kommet listende ind fra sidelinien, og havde upåagtet claimet et af spillets 3 objektiver.

Spillet sluttede efter tur 5 med Imperials i besiddelse af 1 objektiv, og Kaos ikke i besiddelse af noget. Kun en blight drone og en immobiliseret Fallen Angels rhino var tilbage på bordet fra Kaosstyrkernes side.

Mens Dysante var ved at blive båret hen til feltlazarettet efter kampen kom "Vomitus Maximus" pludseligt flyvende med høj hastighed og skød en 5 kilo tung teleport homer i maven på Dysante, der prompte blev bortteleporteret til et ukendt sted. Dronen forsvandt derefter i høj hastighed fra stedet uden at stoppe for at hjælpe de faldne bårebærere.

Special Sneak Preview: Næste slag er fastsat til den 19. februar 2012. Der spilles Planetstrike med 1750 p. pr. side. Kaos er attacker og IG er defender. IG ledes af Lord Castellen Ursus Crassus, og hvis han dør i slaget, er han endeligt død i kampagnen. Hvis IG vinder, bliver Dysante befriet fra fjendtligt fangenskab.

Chapter XI – Sever the head; kill the body

Surrounded by entrenchments, weapon emplacements, redoubts, kill-zones and overlapping fields of fire, and zeroed weapon aims, Liberty Fortress was without doubt the best defended and most unassailable compound on Terminus Omicron. Equipped with the finest Mechanicus vox-casters and archeotech void-shields, Angel Bastion was the pulsating heart and nerve centre of the Imperial defence of the beleaguered planet.

From here, Lord Castellan Ursus Crassus directed the Imperial war effort, whilst recuperating from the wounds he sustained against the fell Death Guard during the push out of Aleph Major.

Crassus hammered his meaty fist into the strategium display table. The collected officers around gave a small start at the sound. "That, gentlemen" Crassus sneered "is quite simply unacceptable. Governor Dysante is integral to the defence of this mudhole of a planet. He is the Hero of the people, after leading the PDF to victory against the Archenemy at Land's End. We must liberate him from the Terminus Est before the heretics extract too much information from him." Fixing his gaze at an immaculately dressed Storm Trooper colonel, he continued "Col. Talverton. You will prepare a strike team to infiltrate the Terminus and retrieve Governor Dysante. The Grey Knights have kindly acceded to my request of piloting a Caestus Assault Ram to get you in. You depart at once. That will be all." With a salute, Talverton turned smartly and strode confidently out the room.

Two days later

Klaxons started sounding moments before heavy ordnance thundered down through the atmosphere. Somehow, the heretics had managed to conceal the fact that the Murder-class cruiser "Desolation's Hand" had descended into low orbit and into firing range of Liberty Fortress. From its swollen belly drop pods and heavy carrier units were disgorged and fell to the ground below, whilst ancient teleportarium banks started throbbing with power.

The firestorm unleashed at the Liberty Fortress was ultimately solely impressive in terms of visual grandeur. In practice, it had little effect on the mighty compound, and only the western-most redoubt was damaged. Its fearsome missile launcher banks, however, were unaffected.     

Inside Angel Bastion, Navy liason, commodore Duilius worked feverishly to intercept the Archenemy signals and disrupt their deployment – and succeed to a large extent in doing just that. However, he did not succeed in preventing the entire enemy force in arriving, and on pinions black as midnight, Valnir the Reaper, daemon prince of Nurgle dropped down near the Fortress, leading his force from the fore. Next to the missile bastion, a foul Blight Drone dropped on buzzing engines, while black-armoured Terminators materialized out of the air, next to the forward bastion. Simultaneously, a Death Guard Rhino armoured transport roared onto the field, having sped from the drop zone.

Their weapons opened up, and a great many brave defenders died in chemical fumes excreted from the Blight Drone and from the flamers carried by the Death Guard and the Terminators. Unable to hold their own, they fled from the bastions they had been ordered to defend with their lives. Roaring with fury, Valnir charged an Imperial Guard command platoon, and tore them asunder, their warm blood coating his arms and chest.

Despite the surprise assault on his fortress, Ursus Crassus was quick to summon his strategic reserves. Sentinel walkers were re-called, and appeared behind the newly arrived Archenemy forces, whilst the elite Stormtroopers were called in from their perpetually patrolling gunships.

Despite this Stormtrooper squad Beta who attempted to land near Valnir deviated off course, and were immediately cut down, as they landed too close to the daemon prince. Squad Alpha, however, managed to land behind the Blight Drone, readying their Meltaguns. Their fire managed to destroy the Drones maw cannon and immobilize it.

The lascannon-armed Sentinels managed to destroy the Death Guard Rhino, and assaulted the foul squad within, who had been joined by Lord Batianus and Lord Necrodemus, trying them down in close combat. A plasmacannon armed Sentinel managed to kill a single Terminator, while the Penal Legion under Penitentiary Officer Igor Bastenbelt managed to fell another. The rest of the Imperial shooting, however, proved decidedly ineffectual.

Despite being fired upon by the Penal Legion and losing half their number, the Terminators held out, and employed their chainfist to carve up the bastion, causing it to collapse into rubble.

With that, Obliterator Demetrius and his cult brother, Thanatos, strode onto the field whilst a black armoured Rhino sped forward, transporting its cargo of Traitor marines. Valnir flew towards the plasma sentinel, while Terminator squad Profundis marched towards the Penal Legion.

Morphing their arms into multi-meltas, the Obliterators obliterated the scout sentinel. The Terminators unleashed their heavy flamer at the Legionnaires and several fell to the ground writhing in chemical flames. Charging in, the Terminators slew many of the convicts and routed the remainder. Valnir also did his part, tearing the plasma sentinel apart, and devouring the hapless pilot within. The Death Guard, Sorcerers and Sentinels continued to pound at each other, and somehow, Batianus managed to plant a meltabomb in the heat of the battle, destroying one of the Sentinels.

Sergeant Howarth, a grizzled veteran, directed his veteran squad to fire at the Blight Drone near the Missile Bastion, but the grenade launchers of his men had no impact on the daemonic machine. Only the Storm Troopers near it managed to hit it, but alas even their meltaguns failed to impress on it. The automated weapons in the surviving bastions, opened fire on what they could, but did not do much. The Ratlings fired at Valnir, and their precise fire managed to wound the chaos prince, enraging him even further.

The combat between the Sentinel and the Death Guard continued, as neither side managed anything against the other.

As the Imperials struggled with the already present Chaos forces, their plight got worse, as yet another Obliterator strode onto the field, and a second Blight Drone dropped from the skies, near the Death Guard, who were engaged with the sole surviving Sentinel. Also, a Vindicator Siege tank arrived on the field, from the traitor's drop zone. Thus the tide turned.

Valnir took to the sky, and landed near the Lascannon Bastion, while Squad Profundis marched towards Angel Bastion. The black Rhino sped forward, also approaching Angel Bastion, followed by the Obliterator Cult, who were morphing Lascannons on their arms.

The first Blight Drone fired its Reaper autocannon at Angel Bastion, finally overloading the Void Shield protecting the bastion. The Vindicator managed to damage it, while the Obliterators missed it entirely. Valnir assaulted Missile Bastion, but failed to do any damage. Newly arrived Obliterator Neoptolemus joined the assault on the Sentinel, but yet again, the machine survived.

The Ratlings fired at Squad Profundis, and managed to kill the Terminator wielding the chainfist, and the Stormtroopers fired their meltaguns at the Blight Drone yet again. This time, their weapons destroyed the machine, but the resulting explosion also killed two of their own. Panicked by the explosion of filth, the Stormtrooper's nerve failed, and they fled the field!

Inside Angel Bastion, Ursus Crassus ordered his men to bring down the newly arrived Drone, and they did so with little effort, destroying the chaos warmachine. The Vindicator was also targeted, but its thick armour prevented it being more than shaken by the incoming fire.

The Sentinel engaged with the Death Guard was finally brought down, freeing the Chaos troops to cause havoc.

Batianus & Necrodemus marched toward Sergeant Howarth and his veterans, while the Death Guard assailed the surviving outer bastion. Firing their flamers, they killed off the last defenders within, filling the air with the scent of cooked, human meat. Crying a devotion to his patron God, Slaanesh, Batinus drew forward the veterans, and along with Necrodemus, he assaulted them, and managed to slay them all as they routed.

Despite the best efforts of the Imperial defenders, the forces of Chaos were closing in. Ursus Crassus brow was beaded with sweat, as he realised that his carefully laid plan was coming apart rapidly. Yet again, the automated weapons failed to make any impression on the advancing Traitor forces.

On Angel Bastion's external vidscreens, Ursus managed to see the Vindicator tank take aim and fire. The Bastion shook, and finally collapsed into rubble. As Ursus and the few survivors of his command team emerged from the rubble, the saw the looming shape of Valnir and his cohorts around them. Drawing his ornamental sword, Lord Castellan Ursus Crassus sneered at the daemon prince: "You want me, filth? Then come and get me...!"

Afterwards

As the attack on Liberty Fortress started, the Imperial cordon forces mobilized as quickly as they could, sending entire regiments to relieve the Fortress, when they arrived, all they found were the smoking remains of Liberty Fortress. What few walls were still standing were decorated with blasphemous symbols, and daubed with the blood of faithful Imperial soldiers.

In the crater of Angel Bastion, the Imperial relief force found but one corpse. Crucified on an Imperial Aquila, hung a flayed body. Beneath its skinless feet lay the ornamental sword of an Imperial Lord Castellan.

Uff. Det var meget grumt. Katastrofalt! Ursus Crassus ude af kampagnen. Necrodemus healet. Dysante IKKE befriet. Liberty Fortress i ruiner :'(

Ellers sjovt at spille Planetstrike, men vores houserules har gjort bastionerne til de rene dødsfælder. Vi bør nok gå tilbage til regelbogens udgangspunkt om, at en flamer laver D6 hits på units inde i bastioner. For det er for vildt, at den laver et hit på hver model. Jeg tror 50 af mine modeller blev slået ihjel af 3 flamerhits. Absurd.

Det var et underholdende slag - og sandt - for dine squishy T3 Sv 5+ Guardsmen, var de bunkers ikke sjove. Men, for mariner eller deslige, så havde det overhovedet ikke været nær så grimt. I min optik, så er de almindelige Planetstrike bastionregler endnu mindre attraktive, da det der blot er en AV14 vehicle. Her der de trods alt markant mere hårdføre med AV13 og 3 structure points.

Sjovt var det da!

Chapter XII - "War of Attrition"

Efter det katastrofale nederlag ved Liberty Fortress og Lord Castellan Ursus Crassus' død var kommandostrukturen i the Imperial Guard på Terminus Omicron ved at kollapse. De højest rangerende officerer i Aleph Major var i vildrede både med hensyn til hvilke strategiske prioriteter, der skulle forfølges, og hvem af dem, der skulle stå i spidsen for kampen.

Mens diskussionen rasede på sit højeste hørte man tunge skridt uden for situationsrummet fulgt af en lavmælt banden. Døren blev slået op med et gevaldigt brag, og ind trådte col. Stryker von Schlagenfaust netop tilbage fra tjeneste bag fjendens linier. Han havde været ude af kommunikationsrækkevidde de sidste 7 uger, og alle havde troet, at han var død eller fanget. "Jeg har hørt Crassus er død. Jeg overtager kommandoen. Skaf mig en oversigt over alle vore ressourcer inden for 5 km. Straks!" Stryker var den højest rangerende officer tilbage på planeten og desuden en levende legende. Der var ikke mere diskussion.

Stryker foretrak modsat Crassus at lede fra fronten. Hans plan var simpel. Kast Kejserens utallige soldater mod fjenden, til de kører træt. Ingen pause, ingen nåde. Ingen ofre var for små, ingen pris for høj. At dø i Kejserens tjeneste var alligevel en guardsmands ultimative skæbne. Nu skulle han vise det for fjenden i praksis. Slut med små nålestiksoperationer bag deres linier. Hele planetens ressourcer skulle nu sættes ind i kampen på hans måde. Fremad!

Vi spillede med missionerne fra Battlemissions. IG vandt roll off og skulle være attacker og måtte vælge en af IGs 3 missioner. Der blev valgt tadaahh: WAR OF ATTRITION. Troops der dør bliver sat i reserves og kan komme ind igen. Der spilles om victory points, hvor kun units, der bliver slået helt ihjel, tæller.

IG fik første tur. Og satte stort set alt på bordet. Chaos deployerede kun to transports.

Col. Schwartzenhammer havde medbragt en Master of Ordnance til slaget, og han lykkedes med at kalde artilleriild ned over en Fallen Angels rhino, der blev wrecked. Death Guard rhino kørte frem og smokede.

I tur 2 dukkede Guardsman Marbo op ud af det blå og smed sin democharge i hovedet på Fallen Angels squad og dræbte 4. DG rhino overlevede alt hvad IG kunne smide efter den, selv stormtrooper meltaguns og en outflankende scout sentinel med missile launcher + hunterkiller missile i røven.

Fallen Angels skød Marbo. Death Guard squad samt sorceror lord Nihilim steg ud af deres rhino, multichargede stormtroopers og en special weaponssquad med flamers, slog dem grumt ihjel og konsoliderede ind i terræn. En blight drone skød sentinel i smadder.

Tur 3 så den netop afdøde special weaponssquad med flamers komme tilbage fra reserves for at riste deres drabsmænd.

Også al øvrig IG ildkraft gik mod DG, hvor kun en sergeant og Nihilim stod tilbage da røgskyen lettede. Nihilims personal icon of chaos sikrede, at hans fæle lesser daemons kunne summones ned midt blandt fjenden. Master Chiaphas erklærede med slet skjult tilfredshed at hans dæmoner nu multichargede hele IGs battelinie. Den snarrådige Farseer erindrede ham om, at han skulle rulle for difficult terrain, da han jo teoretisk set kunne rulle dobbelt et.

Ak ja, sådan kan det gå. Og ikke et ord om at Plague Bearers altid skal tages i units af 7 for ikke at misfornøje bedstefar Nurgle... Den gamle spilopmager 8)

Til gengæld kom alle Chaos reserves på bordet bortset fra helten Valnir. En mægtig Plague Hulk of Nurgle krabbede sig frem mod fjenden i følgeskab med endnu en blight drone, en vindicator og 2 obliterators. Obliterators skød en lascannon sentinel, men ellers var det lidt sløjt. DG sergeant chargede en heavy weapons squad med missile launcher og dræbte dem. Nihilim chargede en platoon command squad med meltaguns og dræbte dem.

I tur 4 kom den just afdøde command squad med meltaguns på bordet igen, hvor de skød og dræbte DG sergeant. Master of ordnance missede plague hulken, men scatterede over på vindicatoren og lavede weapon destroyed på den. Nihilim blev skudt ihjel af nogle heldige veteraner med grenade launchers. DG rhino overlevede igen helt utroligt al ildkraft. En plasmacannonbevæbnet sentinel chargede lesser summoned daemons, der heldigvis ikke havde styrke til at skade den, og slog 2 ihjel. I chaosturen kom Valnir endelig på bordet sammen med en genopstanden Death Guard squad. Fallen Angels squad steg ind i DG rhino og kørte fremad.

DG dræbte på ny flamer squaden og command squaden der havde meltaguns. Øvrig chaos skydning slog lidt diverse guardsmen og veteran guardsmen ihjel.

Tur 5 så IG skydning decimere en blight drone og en hel del DG marines. Flamer squad og melta squad kom ind igen og skød på deres drabsmænd fra DG. Den store masse af guardsmen bevægede sig fremad. Plasmasentinel dræbte en daemon mere i nærkamp. I chaos turen blev den sidste lascannonsentinel skudt ihjel. Fallen Angels steg ud af deres rhino og gjorde klar til at multicharge, men Plague Hulkens store kanon scatterede over på dem og slog 4 ud af 5 ihjel. Av. Tak for den. Den har også kun et øje, og det er malet mælkehvidt af en grund. En blight drone skød på Schwartzenhammers squad og dræbte 2. Fallen Angels sergeant chargede og døde vist. Flamer squad døde for fjerde gang og melta squad for tredje gang.

Spillet fortsatte til tur 6. Afdød meltasquad kom ind nede bag Valnir og Blight drone, men kunne ikke ramme nogen. Den ministorum priest, som gik med Stryker, skiftede unit til den store platoon combined squad, der derpå chargede lesser daemons. Stryker (der er count as Straken) gav dem furious charge og præsten gav dem reroll to hit. Dæmonerne døde på græsselig vis. Den genopstandne DG squad blev skudt til døde igen. I Chaos turen kom lesser deamons på fra reserve, men da der ikke var nogen icons på bordet døde de straks og gav IG 143 gratis victory points. DG rhino blev endeligt skudt. Husker ikke af hvad. Chaos lykkedes med at skyde Schwartzenhammer død med sine blight drones. Fallen Angels squad kom på bordet igen, men gemte sig bag en bakkekam. Valnir fløj hen og dræbte meltagun squad, og sikrede sig dermed et ekstra XP, den skurk!

Spillet sluttede efter tur 6. Imperials havde slået ihjel for 1333 point, mens chaos havde slået ihjel for 995 point, herunder den samme special weapons squad med flamers 4 gange og en platoon command squad med 2 meltaguns 4 gange.

Chapter XIII - "A New Hope"

Kampen om planeten Terminus Omicron bevægede sig ind i slutfasen. Krigens parter havde begge lidt forfærdelige tab, og havde knap kræfter til yderligere fremstød. Ærkefjenden satte sin lid til at det kunne lykkes at tvinge afgørende informationer ud af den tilfangetagne Lord Dysante, og havde anbragt ham i en ødelagt hab-grotte dybt under sektor 237 tæt på en svaghed i warpsløret, hvor de håbede at kunne fremtvinge en dæmonisk besættelse med en af Forvandlingens Herres bedrageriske dæmoner. Heldigvis havde Lady Putinella krævet, at hendes mand Lord Dysante altid bar sin bipper på sig, så hun kunne holde sig opdateret med hans position, hvilket Kaosstyrkerne ikke havde opdaget. Oberst Talverton fra 1. stormtroppekompagni havde derfor udrustet en mindre redningsstyrke, som var blevet indsat nær hab-grotten. Deres mission var at befri den tilfangetagne eller i det mindste at nægte fjenden adgang til hans viden. Dette var Ursus Crassus sidste kommando, og obersten ville udføre den eller dø i forsøget.

Der blev spillet Kill Team fra Battle Missions-bogen. Hver side havde en styrke på 200 p. og hver model opererede individuelt. 3 modeller fra hver side var en "specialist", der måtte tage en USR. Col. Talverton havde Furious Charge. Veteran sergeant Gisbourne havde Preferred Enemy, og veteran trooper Kyle McConnor havde Tank Hunters. På Dæmonsiden havde bloodchrusheren Mar'tok the Warbringer Fleet of Foot, og 2 horrors of Tzeentch havde hhv. Feel No Pain og Stealth.

De kejserlige redningstropper stjal initiativet fra dæmonerne og startede spillet.

Kampen udviklede sig uheldigt for dæmonerne, der forsøgte at snige sig frem mod IG mens de bombarderede dem med warpfire. Col. Talvertons tropper formåede imidlertid at dukke sig så meget i terrænet, at de kun led få tab, samtidig med at de systematisk nedskød dæmonerne  én for én.

Snart kunne Talverton nærme sig den tilfangetagne guvernør og sige: "Lord Dysante formoder jeg?"

Dysante modtog med glæde sine redningsmænd, og tog straks kommandoen over indsatsstyrken og sikrede snart hele sektor 237 til imperiet.

Results: Imperial victory. Enemy slain to a man (daemon). One territory gained. Lord Dysante freed.

På slagkrydseren Stella Splendens overvejede Grand Master Rector Lux Aeternus fra Grey Knights chapteret hvordan han kunne vende krigens gang endegyldigt. De fleste efterretningsoplysninger syntes at pege på, at den virkelige vilje bag invasionen var dæmonprinsen Valnir the Reaper. I samråd med inkvisitor Alvrinus del Marino besluttede han at forsøge at sætte Valnir ud af spillet, og måske at demoralisere fjenden fuldstændigt. Marinos psykerkonklave udpegede det sted på planetens overflade, hvor warpenergierne slørede deres æteriske klarsyn mest. Det blev besluttet at sætte et lynangreb ind på positionen straks.

Inkvisitionens bedste gæt viste sig endnu en gang at være lige på kornet. Valnir havde forskanset sig med en større styrke af kaosrumsømænd fra forskellige legioner. Med ufattelig præcision materialiserede Aeternus' styrker sig foran Valnirs styrker.

Aeternus' terminators tog svære tab fra navnlig Obliteraturkultens plasmavåben, men kom hurtigt i nærkamp med fjenden. Selv med de kraftige tab til fjendtlig ild formåede de sølverskinnende terminators at sprede død og ødelæggelse omkring sig.

Valnir dræbte egenhændigt 9 Terminators inden Aeternus fik ham engageret i duel. Omgivet af slagets død og ødelæggelse tildelte de to helte hinanden mange svære slag, der hver for sig ville være banesår for almindelige krigere. I spillets tur 7 slog de endeligt hinanden og faldt hvor de stod.

Spillet sluttede uafgjort, men ved roll off gik territoriet til Imperials sammen med pligten til at skrive kamprapport.

Suk, ak og ve! Så skidt det går!

Men - det er sku også op ad bakke, når alle dine Terminators kommer ind i tur to, alle lander præcis hvor de skal (fair nok, én enhed scatterede 3"), og at du i min skydefase får 11 AP 2 og AP 1 wounds, hvorefter du saver 9 af dem på dit 5+ save...så er det sku heller en fair fight...

Det eneste der redder min dag lidt, er så Valnir, der æder sig igennem bunker af Terminators...og render så ind i Lux, der på to ture med sine 6 angreb, der rammer på 4+, wounder på 5+, snildt laver 4 wounds og tager dæmonprinsen med sig ned...

Det andet spil var bare en katastrofte. Hvad ramte jeg med i min tur ét - 5 skud, ud af de 24 jeg havde til rådighed? Op af bakke siger jeg bare...Chaos Dæmons er godt nok noget fælt bras...

Jeg glæder mig dog til vores Apocalypse spil, der skal afslutte kampagnen!

Det kan godt være jeg savede lidt heldigt mod de slemme AP 1 og 2 skud, men der døde alligevel 6 terminators og gik et wound af Lux-drengen til din skydning i tur 1, så det synes jeg nu også var lidt hårdt. Og desuden har Lux ikke 6 angreb, men 3. Som alle andre GK Grand Masters.

Er der iøvrigt andre end mig, der savner billeder fra Chapter X - A Pyrrhic Victory længere oppe ?

Der dødede 6 terminators til skydning...og nærkamp! Valnir gjorde jo indhug i de Terminators allerede fra starten. Du mistede 3 terminators til skydning - that was it... hvilket er lidet imponerende, når man tænker på mængden af rapid firing plasmaguns (hvoraf 3 var twin-linked), meltagun og vindicator cannon der var peget i din retning...

Kan vi ikke godt blive enige om at det var synd for Master Ciaphas og at GK er nærmest mega snyd, lige meget hvad?? Og selv hvis der kun havde været 1 terminator så havde det været snyd!! :D

Men som sagt glæder jeg mig til afslutningen, hvornår bliver det? Vi skal jo snart i gang med en ny omgang!

TYDELIGT, siger jeg!

Mht. til afslutning af kampagnen, så er status pt. den, at Imperials har 15 territorier, og Kaos har 13. Vinder er den første til at erobre 17 territorier (halvdelen af planeten). Næste slag har vi planlagt til den 15. april 2012, og der er kun et enkelt territorie på spil, så der kommer minimum et slag mere. Evt. et apocalypseslag, hvor der er to territorier på spil.

Men der er intet i vejen for at vi sætter den næste kampagne i gang sideløbende.

In the desert in the far approaches to the Imperial supreme headquarters, the enemy rumbled through. The ground on which they trod turned black with corruption and decay. The Herald of Nurgle was going to war. In the sky above the mechanised coloumn, the Daemon Prince, Belphegor, nominal leader of the thrust, soared on decayed wings which by no right should be able to support his flight. In the distance, he saw that the Imperials had established a firebase, hoping to repel the forces under his command.

With a thought, he gave the commands, feeling the telepathic nod from Typhus, agreeing with his plan. The Imperials would be made to bleed, and souls would be offered to Nurgle...

Before the Imperials could react, the forces of the True Gods roared onto the field of battle. Belphegor took to the skies heading towards the Imperial company commanders in the ruined hab complex on the far right flank, whilst the Land Raider "Nephropathia Rex" trundled relentlessly forward, flanked to it's left by a squad of Fallen Angels in their Rhino APC and a warband of Fallen Angel Raptors. Holding the Chaos deployment zone was the Cult of Destruction in a ruined settlement, accompagnied by Chaos Cultists led by Tetchvar.

In the opening volley, the Cult of Destruction slew a single Autocannon crew, whilst the Cultists put paid to squad of Ratling snipers, who had hidden i a crater center field. Dismayed by most of their squad cut down by autogun fire, the Ratlings fled to the rear, but regrouped soon after, when the stern gaze of liuetenant-general Westendorf fell on them...

Realizing the clear and present danger represented by Belphegor the Daemon Prince, the Imperial battleline focused their fire on him. Before long, the incoming fire grazed Belphegor's wings and with shriek of pure rage, the Daemon plummeted to the earth below like a meteor made of darkness and hate. Shaken, the Daemon stood up from the crater in which it had crashed - but barely had it done so, before the Imperial firepower made itself felt. Shot after shot tore into it's warp-infused flesh, until finally, the platoon command squad led by lieutenant Dearborne fired it's meltaguns, incinerating the Daemon with the power of a sun, banishing the Prince back to the Aether.

Undisturbed by the banishement of their general, the forces loyal to Typhus moved forward and dismounted their armoured transports, ready to wreak havoc on the Imperials. Fire and death spat out, but none of the Guardsmen fled the field, despite many of them being blown to fleshy gibbets of flesh or burnt to ciders by chemical flame weapons wielded by the Death Guard. Realizing what was to come, their sergeants stood up and bellowed their commands - the traitors would feel the wrath of the just in mere moments... Perhaps the courage shown by the Guardsmen unmanned the Death Guards, but whatever the truth, their charge failed to hit home - only the Raptors managed to close with their enemy, who they slaughtered almost to the man. Their success would, however, be their undoing, as they were now left open to a counter-charge by the Rough Riders of the Terminus Omicron Auxillia... Over their heads, the Cult of Destruction shot beams of incandessant power, which connected squarely with a single armoured sentinel, wrecking it.

Just as the Imperials were reeling from the damage, the elite Stormtroopers of Lord Dysante's Household Exemplar Guard arrived from the  sky. The highly trained soldiers landed next to the diseased Land Raider, and opened up with their meltaguns; their shots, however, failed to do more than stun the might engine of war. With a cry to the Emperor's praise, the rough riders swept in for the kill. Their victims were the fearsome Raptors, but despite succumbing to their fear, the charge still connected and a great many of the Raptors were slain in the fierce mêlee. Despite this, two of the five Riders were killed in return, but the combat still resulted in the Raptors fleeing for their lives.

On the right flank, the command squad under Lt. Dearborne moved forward, eager to get within range of the Obliterators, who were raining death on the Imperial lines. eventually, they would see the end of two of the Obliterators, while the officer seconded from the Imperial Navy would rain precision blasts onto the Obliterators as well as their Cultist support, in an effort to dislodge them from the objective they were guarding - however, in the end, the ruin would prove to be too well built, and but few of the cultists died in the end to the deluge of firery death from above.

On the refinery on the far left flank, the Fallen Angels were rapidly being decimated by the Imperial defenders. Their Aspiring Champion, Efialtes, had been killed by his own over-heating plasma pistol, whilst the rest of them had been subjected to tenacious and accurate las-fire. Solely Ancient Coelb was still standing, proudly bearing the Icon of Vengeance, but despite his best efforts, he was quickly overcome in close quarter battle.

Seeing the death of his followers all around him, Typhus went on a rampage. Quickly he killed off the remaining rough riders and some hapless Imperial Guardsmen, before moving to the left flank. There he went through a special weapons squad, a veteran squad and another special weapons squad. Aiding him greatly was Manreaper and the Destroyer Hive, which enabled him to kill swathes of Guardsmen. Though eventually gravely wounded, Typhus slugged through to clear the entire Imperial left flank by himself - much to the chagrin of lieutenant-general Westdorf.

In the end, but Typhus, the herald of Nurgle, a single Obliterator and a few cultists were left of the Chaos strike force, the attack well and truly blunted. However, the Imperials had likewise been bled white from the carnage, and would be forced to fall back. Though the battle would initially be considered to be a tactical draw, later analysis would show that it was in reality a strategic victory for the Arch-Enemy. However, the penal legionnaires had acquitted themselves well, proving their linebreaking abilities - but they were also unable to shake the cultists on the other side of the battlefield.

Battle XV - "Into the teeth of the guns"

The ground shook beneath the heavy treads of the armoured column.  Just over the next hill lay the sanctuary city of St. Phillipos - a sanctuary now fallen and defiled. Following the Imperial withdrawal from the Station 54 Refining Facility, the Brotherhood of St. Phillipos had thrown off the shackles of the Corpse-Emperor, and declared fealty to the true pantheon of the four.

Though taken by surprise, the Cultists had failed to take the defensive battlements outside the city, leaving it in the hands of the Omicronian defenders. If the redoubts could be breached, the forces of the Arch-Enemy would be one step closer to conquering Terminus Omicron.

Led by the Herald of Typhus, the armoured thrust spilt into three prongs. The Basilica of St. Phillipos was occupied by the traitor priest Anarkus, while Tetchvar led his brutes forward on the right flank. Flitting deftly through the ruined city, two Blight Drones of Nurgle hovered in cover, ready to bring painful death to those opposing the true creed.

Giving the order, the forces of Chaos surged forward, ready to deliver the absolution of death to the followers of the False Emperor. Despite their best efforts, the only result of the immense firepower thrown at the Imperial fortifications, was that the void shield on the Firestorm Redoubt was lowered and the building shaken to such a degree, that the ratling snipers inside would only be able to snap fire.

While the forces of Chaos advanced, the Cultists under Anarkus continued their debased worship in the basilica with blood sacrifice and virgin defloration...

The Imperial retaliation was not long in coming. The huge lascannon batteries on the Firestorm Redoubt annihilated one Blight Drone and scored First Blood, while three armoured Sentinels utterly destroyed a Rhino carrying a squad of Fallen Angel Chaos Space Marines. Even the mighty land raider carrying Typhus and his Terminator retinue was hit and its structural integrity weakened as a result.

Though the thrust on the left flank had been blunted, the armoured transports sped forward, desperate to get to grips with the Imperials. The last surviving Blight Drone zoomed forward, right in front of the Firestorm Redoubt. A top it's battlement stood the Imperial commander, Lord-Colonel Reginald Blistig along with his trusted advisors. Barely did he have time to scream before the Blight Drone unleashed a stream of virulent miasma and Reaper Autocannon fire. In the blink of an eye, the proud colonel and his men had been reduced to melted flesh and gore splattered constituent parts. The warlord slain in such a horrific matter did little to dissuade the Imperial defenders, and they stood firm in the face of the enemy.

Again the Imperials retaliated with firepower and death. From the sky, a passing Valkyrie transport unerringly dropped a squad of Dysante's elite Exemplar Guard carrying meltaguns right behind the Chaos land raider, while on the right flank, a squad of penal legionnaires infiltrated behind the Chaos advance, potentially cutting them off. Opening up, the Exemplars destroyed the land raider, while the heavy weapon teams wrecked the last Chaos rhino which was carrying a squad of Death Guard Chaos Space Marines. The explosion from the land raider also killed off a Cultist from squad Tetchvar and two of Exemplar Storm Troopers. Realising the threat posed by Typhus and his retinue, a substantial amount of firepower was sent their way, resulting in the demise of two Terminators. Also, most of the Fallen Angels were brought low, and a number of Tetchvar's cultists were gunned down by the penal legionnaires.

Having seen the amount of death meted out, the warriors of Chaos started to fall back. The Imperial defence would have to be overcome by other means...

The right flank concentrated on killing off the penal legionnaires, but despite pouring fire into them, only a single Imperial was sent to the afterlife. The rest of the Chaos firepower was entirely ineffective. Typhus led his surviving two Terminators further back, hoping to escape Imperial attention. The sole success was the fact that the Fallen Angels managed to kill off the surviving Exemplars.

Seeing the Chaos warlord trying to retreat, Captain Pollux, now acting commander, gave the order for a general advance. The entire Imperial line advanced from left and right. The forces of chaos would be pushed back and destroyed! The penal legionnaires fired at squad Tetchvar, destroying it to the man. The two terminators following Typhus were also killed and the Herald himself reduced to a single wound. It would not be long before the Chaos Warlord would be killed.

Desperate times would call for desperate measures. Striding bravely forward, Typhus charged at the penal legionnaires, while the surviving four Fallen Angels advanced within range of the lizard riders. With a call to their gods, the Fallen Angels unleashed a hail of bolter fire, shredding four of the five lizard riders. Immediately thereafter, Typhus threw himself at the legionnaires. Despite their overwatch fire, he waded into them, and started to lay waste to them. When he was done, the legionnaires were running for their lives, leaving five dead in the ruin. Deciding discretion was the better part of valour, Typhus consolidated out of sight behind the building.

Angered, the Imperials moved further forward, lascannons and plasma shot being thrown at any targets. With amazing fortitude, the Obliterators in the hab complex on the left flank survived with minor wounds, until a lucky shot killed off Cult-Brother Nemex. The intention was to claim critical points in the field, essential to keeping the fortification network intact. Once again, the servitor in the Firestorm Redoubt failed to raise the void shield protecting the fortification.

Seeing their chance and that the Imperials might have over extended themselves, Death Guard squad Claviathax advanced. Empowered by their patron god, their step was light and they managed to charge the Imperials who had just claimed the objective in front of them. Weathering the overwatch fire unscathed, the Death Guard fell upon the hapless Guardsmen. In single combat, Claviathax slew Sergeant Johnson. Upon seeing his mangled corpse and with so many Guardsmen dead, the two survivors fled for their lives.

Realising that the balance of the battle had suddenly changed, the Imperials made a last ditch effort to reclaim victory. A plasma cannon armed sentinel tried to shoot the Death Guards, but it missed and all the other firepower thrown into them was absorbed by the cover they hugged. Desperate to shift the Chaos Marines, the sentinel charged in, but was met with a dolorous blow from Claviathax; crippling it. Dragged screaming from the cockpit of the sentinel, pilot Graven was unceremoniously butchered like an animal on the ground. Regrouping, squad Claviathax turned round and faced a platoon of approaching guardsmen. Igniting their flamers, the Death Guard brutally purged the guardsmen in fire and flame, removing the last of the Imperial soldiers on the right flank.

As night fell across the battlefield, Captain Pollux stared in surprised horror. The Chaos attack, having appeared to be blunted and routing, had succeeded in drawing the Imperial defenders out of their fortifications and into the open no man's land. Bereft of defenders, the trenches and bastions stood empty, while the men were slaughtered in the field. Bled white, there was now a gaping hole in the Imperial front - a hole which was to be exploited to the full. The Arch-Enemy had managed to claim three of the four critical points and having slain both Colonel Blistig and broken through the line with the Death Guard, Chaos had won a crushing victory.

With a heavy heart, Captain Pollux gave his men the order to fall back and retreat. Watching his squad leave, Pollux drew his bolt pistol and placed the muzzle in his mouth. Consigning his immortal soul to the Emperor's forgiveness, Pollux pulled the trigger...

Absolut horribelt! Sikke et comeback til Chaos. Typhus overlever igen med 1 wound, og det er bestemt ikke første gang. Han havde mange chancer for at dø helt.

En mindre lektie fra slaget var, at Blight Drones ikke har lov til at starte på bordet i tur 1. Det står i rulebook FAQ. Det ville have gjort en forskel, da den ene slog min commander ihjel i tur 2. En mindre forskel, der dog måske kunne have svunget slaget på et tidligere tidspunkt. Min Master of Ordnance var reelt den eneste, der kunne ramme Anarkus og hans væmmelige cronies.
