Giant Fanatic 2016 Horus Heresy players pack

General info
We want to focus on the great story behind the Horus Heresy, and making this into an immersive event. This means that we want the participants to feel like they are part in narrating a story while participating, and that their actions as individuals will have a meaning for a greater whole. So we decided on making this a team event and with some twists to differentiate it from more traditional tournament like formats. Some of the games you will play on your own, some battles the players will have to work together to win for the Emperor or Horus. Actions in some battles can also influence later battles, sort of like a campaign. This will hopefully be clearer as you read on ;)

Anyways, with all this being said, and without further ado, here is the player pack ruleset:

Event Rules
This event is a team event, as such all players that sign up for this event must be part of either the loyalist team or the traitor team. All players will be a part of either a traitor team or a loyalist team depending on the faction you choose. You can only have Traitor units in an army that plays for the Traitor faction, and likewise with the Loyalist side.

Each team will have a Supreme General. The Supreme General is in charge of communicating with the other team when need be, and to inform results of the games to the organizers and to decide who gets to fight who (see matching process below)

Before each game, the Supreme Generals roll a dice to decide which side is the Attacker, and which is the Defender. The Attacker side will then choose one of their players and this player will be put forward as First attacker. The Defender side then chooses a player to face the Attacker player, and the Defender player chooses a table to play on. The roles are then inversed with the Defender side choosing a player and the Attacker side matching this player, this time the Attacker will choose the player. This process is continued until there are no players left to match.
There will be 5 games. Each game is described separately, with all the special rules and events for the scenario.

Armies for games 1, 2, 5 will consist of 2.000 points armies consisting of an Age of Darkness detachment, Leviathan and Onslaught are not allowed, but the others are, Allies and Fortifications are not allowed.
Game 4 will be a 2 vs 2 game and consist of a 1.000 points army. Only one compulsory troop choice is needed instead of 2. Note that all models in the army except for the HQ must also be in your 2.000 points army. See further clarification of the rules below in game 4.
Game 3 will be a special 300 points game, with the rules explained in the scenario.

When trying to cast a psychic power, no more than 3 dice may ever be used

All models must be painted and based

Winning the game and the event
A game is won by the side with most Victory points as decided under the Victory Conditions. A difference between 0-2 Victory points is considered a Draw.
A win gives 3 Event points, a Draw 2 points and a Loss 1 Event point.
At the end of the event, the side with most Event points is considered the Winning team
Starting up a game:
•   Roll for setting up objectives are done, the highest roller decides who starts.
•   Roll for deployment zone.
•   Roll for warlord traits
•   Roll for psychic powers
•   Defender sets up army on the table
•   Attacker sets up army on the table
•   Infiltrate, scout and other pregame stuff is done
•   Defender can choose to seize the initiative. If the attacker has more lords of war choices in the army, than the defender, he gets +1 to the roll

Claiming objectives: An objective is claimed when you have a scoring unit within 3". If the opponent has any units within 3" of the same objective it cannot be claimed.

Claiming table quarters: If the scenario gives points for each tablequarter held, it is held when you have a unit on the table quarter and the enemy does not. When the scenario gives points for most table quarters, see which player has the most quarters, based on this criteria.

Prizes
There will be prizes for the following
•   Winning team
•   Best painted army (decided by vote)
•   Most iconic/fluffy army (decided by vote)
•   Most friendly player (decided by vote)
•   Most memorable moment (decided by vote, selection by organizers)

Scenarios

Will be uploaded later on! Stay tuned!

We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.

The Waaagh are a cross between a mass migration, holy crusade, looting party and pub crawl, with a bit of genocide thrown in for good measure.

Looking for 40k team to join - have nurgle daemons, chaos knights and orks!
