Vi har nok ikke været så flittige til at lave omtaler i år, men her er endnu et lille spil dukket op:

Cougar kommer og præsenterer Air War Vietnam.

Quote
March 2 1965 - Operation Rolling Thunder: the first major air campaign against North Vietnam begins. Strikes are initially limited to targets south of the 20th Parallel (to avoid areas with MiG coverage) and are focused on transportation and military targets, with an emphasis on interdiction and armed recon missions.

April 4 1965 - USAF F-105s & F-100s again strike the Thanh Hoa bridge, this time with 750 lb M117 iron bombs. The bridge remains standing, and two F-105Ds are shot down by MiG-17s, the first MiG losses of the war. An F-100D Super Sabre shoots down one of the attacking MiG-17s, the first USAF MiG kill of the war.

June 17 1965 - F-4B Phantoms launched from USS Midway encountered MiG-17s and downed two MiGs using Sparrow radar guided missiles. The first Navy kill.

July 24 1965 - A USAF F-4C Phantom II is shot down by an SA-2 Guideline while covering a strike near Lang Chi (NW of Hanoi), the first SAM loss of the war. Three other F-4Cs are damaged by the SAM's detonation.

August 11 1965 - An USN A-4E Skyhawk is shot down by an SA-2, the Navy's first SAM loss of the war.

January 1966 - VPAF MiG-21F-13s begin combat operations.

April 1966 - The first MiG-21PF Fishbed-D fighters are delivered to the VPAF from the Soviet Union.
U.S. air crews begin encountering MiGs in strength. At this point, the North Vietnamese have not managed to integrate VPAF MiG operations into their larger air defense network. Moreover, VPAF GCI controllers have trouble managing large numbers of aircraft. To avoid shooting down friendly aircraft, the North Vietnamese alternate their use of SAMs and MiGs as the primary threat to U.S. aircraft. Some days are "SAM days" (with the MiGs standing down); other days are "MiG days" (with the SAMs staying quiet).
USAF F-100F Wild Weasels begin using AGM-45 Shrikes in Iron Hand missions against North Vietnamese SA-2s.

April 23 1966 - In the first combat interception of USAF F-4 Phantom IIs by VPAF MiG-21s, both sides experience missile problems, and the engagement is indecisive.

Air War Vietnam is a 2D air plane miniature game for 2-10 players using the "C21 Max" rules from Wessex Games. As a player you control 1 or 2 planes from the "Vietnam era". The rules are explained before play and everything from miniatures to markers is handed out before play. There will be a lot of different scenarios depicting both real and fictional missions covering air-to-air and air-to-ground sorties. Participants will control either planes from USAF (United States Air Force), USN (United States Navy) or VPAF (Vietnam People's Air Force). Ground forces, SAM sites and AAA will be controlled by the game master.
